Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can, 30, has thanked Edin Terzic for appointing him as BVB captain before the 41-year-old left the club last week, Bild reported on Monday UFABET

Borussia Dortmund have undergone a major shake-up over the past week after parting ways with Terzic, before the club appointed Nuri Čahin as their new manager on a three-year deal, followed by the departure of Mats Hummels when the 35-year-old defender’s contract expires on June 30.

For Can, who has received backing from Terzic and has been named captain, he said of the 41-year-old: ‘Edin made me captain of this team. I am still very grateful to him for many things. We definitely had a good time with him.’

The 30-year-old midfielder also reflected on his first season as BVB captain: ‘It was a season full of ups and downs. Things weren’t so good in the Bundesliga, but we did much better in the Champions League.’

Chan also spoke about the appointment of Shahin as the new coach, saying: ‘I am very happy with Nouri, of course. I have a very good relationship with him, that’s true. He is an incredibly good coach and he will definitely help us.’
