Private label designing specs
If you are supplying art on a disc or by email we prefer:
Mac Produced art from
- Freehand 9.0 or less
- Illustrator 10.0 or less
If using Corel Draw you can export files as Corel Draw 6 or Illustrator. Please remember to convert type to curves BEFORE you export the file. (Please call if you have ANY questions.)
Please make sure to include all image files (eps, tiff, etc.) on the disc, as well as all fonts used in the file. When using Corel Draw please include clip art files if any.
Disc: We can accept 3.5 floppy Mac/DOS discs, CD-ROM discs, or Zip discs.
When designing please keep this in mind:
Die: Please get a copy of the die layout or the proper size that you are designing for.
Screens: Screens should not drop below a 7% dot. LPI - 85, 100, 133, or 150 please check first.
Lines: Lines in the design should beno less than 1 pt.
Bleeds: Require 1/8" bleeds off edges of label. We prefer to colour separate the jobs here.
Spreads and Chokes: Generally 1 point of trap is ideal. If you have to send negs please send a colour proof and have one of our art department staff members go through the traps with you. (Sometimes we separate the screens from the spot colour, or in a process job we may add a spot colour for better quality.)
Film: We prefer to do Film as art requires adjustments for distortion and Step and Repeats must be on film. We do not do multiple burns. If film is to be supplied, please contact us for more specific information. Emulsion up negs with a density of 4 is very important.
